I’m drinking milk tea in solidarity with the Milk Tea Alliance and in support of the anti-junta protesters in Myanmar. I’m a day late on the internet campaign (as I am for most things lately), but it’s fitting that it falls on the 74th anniversary of the 228 (February 28) Incident in Taiwan that resulted in some 28,000 deaths and kicked off a 40-year period of political repression known as the White Terror, when 140,000 Taiwanese were imprisoned by the KuoMinTang (Chinese Nationalist Party under Chiang Kai-Shek). The country remained under martial law until 1987.
